Free Bulgarian media organize conference on free speech
A work meeting of Bulgarian journalists on freedom of speech in the country and journalists’ self-worth will take place in the Center of culture and debate in downtown Sofia.
Among the topics to be discussed are the problems involving freedom of speech in the country, censorship and self-censorship, ways and means of pressuring investigative reporters, failure to comply with the Code of Ethics of the Bulgarian press, hiding the truth, ways of taking interviews and working for political interests. The participants are Oliver Basille (representative of Reporters without borders in the EU), Daniela Gorcheva (publisher and editor of Dialogue magazine, Holland), Atanas Chobanov, reporter and candidate MEP, Ognian Stefanov (chief editor of Frog News), Kosta Stefanov (chief editor of info site www.kafene.net, UK), Rosen Bosev (reporter with the Capital weekly), Hristo Hristov (reporter with the Dnevnik daily and three-time award winner), Edwin Sugarev (chief editor of the info site Freedom Here and Now, www.svobodata.com).
