The system for control of contagious illnesses registered the first case of swine flu Type A (H1N1), the health ministry reported. The subject tested positive.
He is a Bulgarian citizen residing in the US, who arrived on a plane from New York through Amsterdam on 27.05.2009. The first symptoms of respiratory deficit appeared on 29.05.2009. The patient requested medical aid from his GP on 30.05.2009. He is under quarantine in a special ward for contagious diseases. He is undergoing anti-virus treatment and is currently in good condition. His doctor has informed epidemiologists at the Regional Clinic for control of public health. Four persons, with whom he has been in contact, are under medical supervision. They display no symptoms so far. The WHO and European Center for infectious disease control have been notified of the case.
