Bulgarian “lead” in Croatian journalist’s murder
Belgrade
There is evidence that Bulgarians may be involved in the murder of Croatian journalist Ivo Pukanic.
Jelko Milovanovic is a suspect in the murder and his girlfriend was seen driving a luxury vehicle with Bulgarian license plates in Belgrade. Serbian police contacted their Bulgarian colleagues at once to help them identify the vehicle and its driver. It is not clear what feedback they got from Sofia, where the police are implicated in yet another scandal. 43-year old Milovanovic was arrested two days ago in the Belgrade neighborhood Dorcol. Police think he placed a bomb under Pukanic’s vehicle, which exploded near his office in downtown Zagreb on October 23 last year. Sreten Josic, who has become infamous in Bulgaria, is believed to have organized the assassination. “The mystery blonde who visited Milovanovic and drove a Bulgarian car has not been identified. The issue is of paramount importance because everyone involved in Pukanic’s murder is connected to the Bulgarian underworld,” police in Belgrade claim. Sreten Josic also lived in Bulgaria for a term.
