Bulgaria’s GDP dropped significantly in the last six months, data of the National Institute of Statistics show. The NIS shows that the GDP dropped to under BGN 14 billion, which is down 3,5% y/y. The industrial sector output increased by 7,7% compared to the previous month, yet is down by 17,1% y/y. The processing industry index increased by 2,6% compared to March 2009, while production of tobacco items increased by 52,7% and of drinks by 9%. production of base metals increased by 16,4%, of textiles and such products excluding clothing items – by 4,5%.
