Dissolution of the party Movement for Rights and Freedoms can be achieved only in Strasbourg since Bulgarian prosecutors declined to bring the case to court, reported Ivan Gruikin, the lawyer dealing with the request of “Justice” Civil Initiative, to Frognews.bg.
The arguments of prosecutors to waive the initiation of proceedings were political rather than legal, said the lawyer. Prosecutors explained that dissolution of the DPS would lead to serious political difficulties in the country. According to the civil rights organization a politician can say something like this, but not a prosecutor.
At the moment "Justice" are appealing the rejection and planning their future if their appeal is rejected as well. "We could go to the European Court in Strasbourg, but this is a complex hypothesis, for which I am not technically prepared," said Gruikin, who prefers to wait for the answer to the appeal.
Frognews.bg reminds that the Civil Initiative "Justice" last year sent a request to the Chief Prosecutor of the Republic of Bulgaria. It contained arguments against and evidence of the MRF’s inadmissible intervention in the lives of Muslims in Bulgaria. The MRF manipulated the election of delegates to the National Muslim Conference. 64 town mayors of the MRF, who drafted and authenticated lists of the delegates were themselves included as delegates. Therefore the MRF violated Art. 4, Art. 37 and Art. 44 of the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria, according to Justice.
