Police threaten to strike again
Displeased police officers are seeking a meeting with Prime Minister Boyko Borisov over the problems in the Interior Ministry, Ivan Savov of the Interior Ministry Police Union told Darik Radio.

One of the reasons involves the fact that the ministry has stopped giving money for specific work conditions.

Cops say that the problems with the ministry are increasing. In many departments of the Interior Ministry in Sofia even paper is lacking, while the money for fuel and spare parts for police cars will be cut. However, patience wore thin after the interior ministry decided to stop paying officers for specific working conditions.

"Some staff of the Interior Ministry, I am speaking of security guards and investigators, used to get money on top of their salaries for specific work conditions. Our colleagues who are in the streets used to get a certain amount on top of the basic salary, because they are on the street and freezing," said Ivan Savov.

The officers want an urgent meeting with Prime Minister Boyko Borisov to discuss the problems of employees of the ministry. In a statement they state that the financial crisis has become a convenient tool for the Ministry of Interior to divert uncomfortable questions about the lack of material base and financial resources on the grounds "there is no money”. The trade union states that if the problems are not solved they will recommence protests.
