Bulgarians detained in Gaza come home
The Bulgarian reporter and cameraman, who were part of the humanitarian convoy captured by the Israeli military are in a deportation center.
They are expected home today, announced foreign minister Nikolay Mladenov. “A deportation center is a place that takes in people who must be deported from a given country for various reasons, such as violating visa policy,” he explained, asked what a deportation center was. So far the two men have not contacted official representatives of Bulgaria or relatives. This will happen today. The delay is owed to the fact that around 500 people were detained and had to be processed. “The more powerful party must take responsibility for use and abuse of power,” said Mladenov in response to the tragedy. He added that he understands people’s reaction throughout the world, especially the Middle East, and said, “The situation in Gaza results from Hamas’ policy to a great extent, because these terrorists are treating people there like hostages.”
