PM awards “most noble” Bulgarians in official ceremony
PM Sergey Stanishev personally presented the top award to Vladimir Todorov of the Association of Victims of Automobile Accidents. The ceremony took place at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Sofia today.

The 24 Hours daily has organized the “Noble Bulgarians” campaign in the last 7 years. Todorov’s association has provided legal and medical assistance to all its clients in the last four years. The goal of the campaign is to publicize noble deeds and give special focus to the people who demonstrate courage and bravery. Award recipients in 2008 included students, a retiree, a doctor, police officers, an engineer, a teacher and a housewife. This year they include Prof. Grigor Gorchev, who performed the first bloodless cervical cancer operation in Bulgaria and is a pioneer of the method in Europe; Marina Nedialkova, who founded a health care facility for children with mental disabilities, and Father Emil Paralingov, who helps victims of cancer and other afflictions.
