At the same time “Apollo and Mercury” auction house was selling the authentic works of Murkvichka. One of these paintings, “Ruchenitsa” (a Bulgarian folk dance), had been considered missing for almost a century. Igor Markovsky told Frognews.bg that these two events’ coinciding was strange.
He believes that Donde may not have had the right to copy Bulgarian artists’ paintings and it should be verified whether he has permission from the ministry of culture. Donde has been painting copies of works by artists like Van Gogh, Monet, Renoir, Gauguin, Klimt, Modigliani, Leonardo de Vinci and others for over two decades. To laymen the copies and the original works are perfectly identical.
Professor Donde rose to the challenge of presenting fake copies of paintings by famous Bulgarian artists like Vladimir Dimitrov – Maistora (The Master), Murkvichka and Ivan Angelov. His team of copy artists worked for more than three months to recreate Maistora’s “Maiden from Kalotina” and “Wedding”. The prices vary from 500 to 2500 euros. Donde’s fakes grace the private collections of people like Madonna, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Prince Albert, Frank Sinatra and more.
