They are all dedicated to city life in Antwerp, Belgium and will be displayed in Bulgaria for the first time. The engravings, socio-critical in content and expressionistic in form, earned Masereel international recognition. They include his so-called Image novels such as "Passion eines Menschen", "Mein Stundenbuch", "Die Sonne", "Die Idee", and "Geschichte ohne Worte". Most of them date from 1920. At the time he created illustrations for famous literary works by Thomas Mann, Emile Zola, Stefan Zweig and more. The “Frans Masereel, 120 years” exhibition will run from November 18 to December 15 at Arena di Serdika Residence Hotel, 2-4 Budapest St, Sofia 1000.
